With the objective of production and dissemination of audio-visual/multimedia programmes, conduct of relevant research, training of necessary manpower and promotion of related culture in the University system for the maximum utilization of the electronic media and ICT for education” the University Grants Commission, Govt. of India, has granted the Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC) to Dibrugarh University in 2012. The Authorities of Dibrugarh University has allotted a suitable infrastructure to the EMRC, in the campus of University. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the UGC, Consortium for Educational Communication, UGC (CEC,UGC) and the Dibrugarh University in 2015. The Centre is governed by a Board of Management under the Chairmanship of the Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Dibrugarh University. The studio “Pragyavision” at EMRC, Dibrugarh University was inaugurated by Prof. Jagat Bhushan Nadda, Director, CEC on 22nd October, 2021.
Goals:
- To produce educational contents (esp. e-contents) for UG and PG learners in consonance with requirements of NEP 2020.
- To enable learners with the means to pursue studies through the virtual mode in acquisition of 21st century skills.
- To promote learning with multidisciplinary approaches and aim at offering diverse new courses with perspectives that are in alignment with the United Nations’ SDGs.
- To facilitate and accelerate the process of the establishment of virtual universities.
Perspective Plan:
- To initiate academic programs and offer specialization in Media Research and Video Production.
- To enable Dibrugarh University to effectively implement NEP 2020 by producing certain courses like Ability Enhancement Courses (AECs) and Generic Elective Courses (GEs) meant for all students across streams.
- To enable the process of establishing virtual universities for the welfare of all segments of the learners’ fraternity.
- To aim towards achieving global visibility through content tailor-made for foreign learners interested in exploring the history and culture of India.
- We have signed a MoU with Assam Women’s University on 4th February, 2023 for sharing Audio-Video knowledge as a requisite need of NEP, 2020.
