The 4th National Pharmacovigilance Week was celebrated from 17th-23rd September 2024, in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Dibrugarh University. The celebration began with an interactive session on 19th September, 2024 at the Seminar Hall where Ms. Nasima Ahmed Assistant Professor, delivered a lecture on “Development of Pharmacovigilance in India and its importance”. Dr. Anshul Shakya, Assistant Professor, delivered the second lecture where he emphasized the objectives, goals, and importance of Pharmacovigilance Programs of India (PvPI) as well as ADR monitoring, and ADR reporting.
A Poster Presentation was organized amongst the B. Pharm, M. Pharm students on the theme “Building ADR Reporting Culture for Patient Safety” at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences on the 21st of September at 10:30 am. An online pamphlet designing competition was also organized amongst B. Pharm, and M. Pharm. students on the theme.
The final and concluding event was organized on 23rd September at Indira Miri Conference Hall, Dibrugarh University and the event began with the felicitation of the HoD, Prof. Aparoop Das, Dean R&D Prof. Dipak Chetia along with the invited Speaker Dr.Gayatri Sharma, Associate Professor, Dept. of Pharmacology, Assam Medical College and Hospital.Dr.Sharma delivered a talk on ADRs and the necessity of monitoring and reporting it. She spoke on the role and responsibilities of the Pharmacists in the National Pharmacovigilance program and had elaborated on various ADRs, their types.
The program was attended by the Faculties, Research scholars, PG, and UG students. At the end of the program, the prize distribution ceremony was held where the winner and runners-up of the competitions organized in commemoration of the event were awarded with mementos and certificates. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. B. B Kakoti.
