The Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Dibrugarh University (EDC, DU) successfully conducted a total of three one-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes (EAP) at different places of Dibrugarh district in the month of August 2024. Overall, 135 participants attended the three EAPs. The first EAP was conducted on August 10, 2024 at DHSK Commerce College, Dibrugarh where 44 participants attended. The second EAP was held at Naharkatiya College on August 24, 2024 with 48 participants and the third EAP was organized at Khowang College with 43 participants.
The EAPs were conducted with assistance of the NSS (National Service Scheme) units of the colleges by the Centre Head of the EDC, Dr. Himadri Barman and the Deputy Centre Head, Dr. Nayan Medhi. The participants were subjected to psychometric tests for Entrepreneurship besides being informed about regulatory requirements, funding options, environmental scanning, competitor analysis and coming up with viable business ideas and business plans.
In the next phase, three Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDP) will be held from among 30 selected business ideas. These will be selected on the basis of the business ideas put forwarded during the EAPs and the current stage at which the business ideas are in. Each EDP to be spread over 5 days will fine tune 10 business ideas so as to develop proper business plans. The 30 business plans will be further evaluated by the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati and the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong for possible incubation as a startup and grant of Rupees 5 lakhs for each incubated startup under a NEC funded project to promote startups in the north eastern region of India. It is to be mentioned that EDC, Dibrugarh University is one of the 30 EDCs established by IIE with support from the NEC across the eight north eastern states of India.
