A Five-Days Residential Training Programme on Composite Fish Farming under the Chief Minister Samagra Unnayan Yojana, Fishery Mission Society, Govt. of Assam is being organised by the Department of Life Sciences, Dibrugarh University during 23 – 27 February 2023. The inaugural function of the training programme was organised in the conference hall of the Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University on 23rd February 2023. The inaugural session was chaired by Prof. L.R. Saikia, Head, Department of Life Sciences, Dibrugarh University and was attended by teachers of Life Sciences and other departments of the university. The training programme was formally inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University Prof. Jiten Hazarika. Prof. Hazarika emphasized the importance of such training programmes in successful implementation of Govt. schemes in Assam. District Fishery Development Officer, Dibrugarh Sri Tirthanath Hazarika along with other officials from the Fishery department was also present on the occasion. Fifty beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana, Fishery Mission Society, Govt. of Assam are attending the programme as trainee during 23 – 27 February 2023. The second batch of the training will be held during 1st – 5th March 2023 where another fifty nos. of participants will avail the training. As resource persons of the training, in addition to the teachers from Dibrugarh University and nearby colleges, Dr. Bibha Chetia Borah of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat and few other officials of Fishery department of Govt. of Assam. Dr. Munmi Borkataky of Department of Life Sciences acted as the anchor of the inaugural session where Prof. Devid Kardong, Coordinator of the training programmewelcomed all the dignitaries and participants. Dr. Pankaj Chetia, Dr. M.K. Singh, Dr. Minakshi Puzari and Dr. Ratul Nath of the Life Sciences department, Dibrugarh University are taking active role in making the event a grand success.
