The Department of Education, Dibrugarh University had recently organized a week long Community Work programme as a part of B. Ed curriculum in the locality of Sarvajanin High School, Subhachuk (Nearby to BCPL, Dibrugarh) from 25th April to 30th April 2022 on the theme of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) under the guidance of Dr. Amar Upadhyaya, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the programme.
The Community work Programme was cantered around on the concept of SDGs and ESD. Various programmes like creation of Medicinal and Flower garden in the school premises, Shramdan in the nearby locality, Health check up camp in support with Assam Medical College and Hospital, Village Survey on Sanitation and Hygiene, Community Plantation, awareness on Plastic use were organized by engaging the local community. Students were trained for art and craft activities, drama, song, music etc on the theme of SGDs. Students counselling programmes were also organized effectively. An honesty shop was also set up in the school premises to develop the honesty habit of school students. The B. Ed students were also engaged in community cooking activities.
On the last day of the programme a Public Rally on the theme of attaining SDGs was organized in the locality which was attended by around 300 peoples including the members of the local community. In the afternoon, a cultural programme was organized by the school students and community members. The products of art and craft training were also exhibited in the venue. The Department of education, Dibrugarh University is thankful to the School Authority, School Management Committee, Teachers of the School and Members of Community for their support in organizing the Community Work Programme successfully.
