A two days workshop on Patenting Innovations and Intellectual Property Rights organized by the Dibrugarh University Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell concluded successfully on 30th March, 2022. The Patent Information Centre of Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC), Govt. of Assam, Guwahati catalysed and supported the IPR Cell of Dibrugarh University in organizing the workshop. The inaugural session of the workshop held on 29th March 2022 was chaired by Prof. Dipak Chetia, the Chairperson of the IPR Cell. The welcome address was given by Prof. Aparoop Das. The workshop was formally inaugurated by Prof. L.K. Nath, the Vice Chancellor i/c of Dibrugarh University. Other dignitaries present in the session were Prof. M.N. Dutta, Dr. Rupam Saikia, Mr. Debasish Dutta from ASTEC, Guwahati. The session was attended by the faculty members of the university along with 60 registered participants of the workshop. The vote of thanks was given by the Secretary of the IPR Cell Dr. Pankaj Chetia. The resource persons who delivered lectures on different aspects of intellectual property rights were Dr. Rupam Saikia, Chairperson, Centre for Juridical Studies, Dibrugarh University; Mr. Debasish Dutta, Scientist, of Patent Information Centre, ASTEC, Guwahati; Dr. Mukul Chandra Bora, Director, Dibrugarh University Institute Engineering and Technology; Prof. Purna K. Barua and Prof. Kishore Kr. Sharma of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. Dr. Utpal Das, Deputy Librarian of Lakshminath Bezbaroa Library of Dibrugarh University also delivered a talk in online mode on the topic Plagiarism and its relevance in academics. The valedictory session of the workshop was held on 30th March 2022 and Prof. Kalyan Bhuyan, Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the university was present as the Chief Guest. The workshop concluded after distribution of certificates to the participants.
