The students of MBA (FT) 2021 Batch of Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University successfully organized the 2021 edition of Rhapsody on March 20, 2021. The theme for the event was “EdTech : Boosting Skills and Employability” with Mr. Risha Sringa Changmai as the resource person. Mr. Changmai had created Assam’s first social media app called Atmiyo which was later sold to a Danish company. He is currently the Managing Director of Atmiyo Technologies Evolution OPC Pvt. Ltd. and is the Co-founder and CTO at Iliana Studio. He is also the CTO at SkyVX.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Himadri Barman welcomed Mr. Risha Sringa Changmai to the Centre and shared some facets related to Rhapsody. He said that Rhapsody was conceived with three objectives in mind: acquaint the students with the latest developments in computers and information technology, give students valuable experience in organizing an event and finally build the brand image of the Centre by inviting industry experts. He asked the students to interact with the resource person to make the best possible use of the opportunity. Mr. Changmai during the course of his lecture dealt on with a host of issues that needs attention in the context of education. He rued the fact that technology adoption is poor as far as education is concerned especially in Assam. He opined that the curriculum design fails to reflect the rapid changes in technology which makes graduates unemployable. Mr. Changmai emphasized more on the development of skills than acquiring qualifications to be successful professionally. Earlier, Mr. Changmai planted a Neem sapling in the CMSDU Campus to mark his presence in Rhapsody 2021.
It is to be mentioned that Rhapsody is organized every year by the MBA (FT) first semester students as part of requirements of the core course, “Computer Applications in Management”. The course is taken by Dr. Himadri Barman. Apart from the students of the Centre, 12 students from other Departments and Centres of the University also participated in the event. The event was hosted by Ms. Basobee Sreemoyee. The Vote of Thanks was given by Ms. Pooja Bhuyan.
