In a meeting organized on April’ 25, 2019, at the Conference Hall of Dibrugarh University (DU) Guest House ‘Vishranta’, details of the newly introduced course Communication for Sanitation Hygiene and Health (CSHH) and appraisal of Swachh Bharat Mission (G) activities undertaken by Key Resource Center (KRC) Dibrugarh University.
In this regard, a power point presentation on CSHH curriculum and SBM works were presented by Assistant Professor of Centre for Journalism and Mass Communication (CJMC), Dibyajyoti Sarma and Chief Coordinator of SBM, DU, Meghalee Chetia, in presence of VC in charge; Prof. L.K.Nath, DU Registrar, Dr. Hari Mahanta; Chief of Field Services, UNICEF, India; Jalpa Ratna; Chief of the Field Office, UNICEF Assam, Dr Tushar Rane; WASH Specialist Sweta Patnaik and other officials of UNICEF; SBM DU Nodal Officer, Dr. Shukla Acharjee; Assistant Professor of CSG, Mrinmoy Buragohain and SBM DU Chief Coordinator, Ujjaini Sharma.
The UNICEF officials especially the Chief of Field Services, Jalpa Ratna were informed through the presentation about the works being taken up by SBM DU team and how rural people in Gram Panchayat level are being motivated to construct their own sanitary toilets and how students of College and University Health and Sanitation Club act as motivators in this regard.
Jalpa Ratna in her short brief later after the presentation appreciated the initiative of stakeholders and suggested the inclusion of Disaster Management learning in the CSHH course syllabus. She said the concept of Gram Panchayat was quite unique for her and she even said students activity through College Health and Sanitation Club, is indeed a great step in this regard.
Later, in the meeting talks about student’s intake for CSHH including internship and placement of students were talked about.
Earlier, the VC in charge welcomed everyone, while the vote of thanks was given away by Professor Dibyajyoti Sarma.
